Diagnostic tests

As veterinarians, we often encounter situations that are unique with every furry patient. So, in order to have a clear idea of your pet’s medical condition and the progression of a disease in particular, diagnostic tools are crucial to our management.

From the X-rays to ultrasound and blood testing, discover a wide variety of diagnostic tests offered by MyOwnVet for your cat or dog.

Radiographs or X-Rays

Radiographs or X-Rays are one of the most useful diagnostic tools that allow us to examine your pet’s bones, oral cavity, abdomen or lungs.

With a new state of the art digital X-Ray machine, we can process the images and study them carefully on a computer monitor. The software allows us to get a faster and more accurate diagnostic so that your pet spends less time on the X-Ray table at our clinic. The images are easily transferable through email if a second opinion is needed.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a procedure that is usually used to assess the surface of your pet’s internal organs through a small tube inserted into their body. Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic technique that requires shorter anaesthetic time and no surgical incision.

It is also used to investigate the causes of vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, swelling, weight loss, respiratory problems or to collect biopsy samples. Sometimes, it can be used to remove small objects.

At MyOwnVet, we commonly use endoscopy to get an accurate diagnosis when other tests are inconclusive or do not give us a complete picture of the problem.

Ultrasound

Similar to endoscopy, ultrasound is used to assess your pet’s internal organs but in a gentle, non-invasive and painless way. The specific sound waves produce a moving and real-time image of the targeted organ(s).

At MyOwnVet clinic, we evaluate the position, size, shape, tissue density and structure of internal organs with the help of the ultrasound. Also, we use it to diagnose pregnancy and even to identify tumours during a surgical biopsy.

In general, an ultrasound takes less than an hour to perform and may require sedation. Therefore, it gives us the necessary time to give a diagnostic and discuss treatment options at the time of the appointment, thus reducing your wait, stress and worry.

IDEXX Diagnostics

Our in-clinic high-performing diagnostic machines are the IDEXX laboratories – a leading world-class laboratory in Veterinary Diagnostics – latest release (IDEXX “LaserCyte Dx” and also IDEXX “Catalyst One” Machines).

These machines can perform a range of tests from simple Pre-Anaesthetic blood tests up to those tests that enable us to diagnose almost all underlying conditions your pet may have! All this at a very competitive and reasonable price.

For those tests that cannot be performed in a veterinary clinic, we send our samples to IDEXX Laboratories so that we get the most professional and accurate outcome possible.

In-clinic Cytology

At MyOwnVet, in-clinic cytology tests, using samples collected either upon consultation or in the Surgery theatre, are carefully processed. With an experience of 22 years in the field, we will strive to give a precise diagnosis so that we can develop the most effective treatment plan for your furry family member.
