MyOwnVet is now a veterinary hospital!
We went through a rigorous inspection and certification process to make sure that our practice is up to scratch and all veterinary hospital standards are not only fulfilled but also exceeded.
Have you ever asked yourselves what the difference between a vet clinic and a vet hospital is?
You might not know the difference between a vet hospital and a vet clinic if you’re a first-time pet parent.
Here are some differences between those two types of pet care facilities.
Vet hospitals are bigger
It’s easy to guess that a vet hospital is bigger than a vet clinic. Vet hospitals are bigger because not only that they need more equipment to run more comprehensive tests than a regular vet clinic, but also they need extra rooms to provide accommodation and nursing care to sick or injured pets.
At MyOwnVet, we have dedicated rooms for a surgical theatre, an X-ray room and all our equipment is of high quality, well maintained and up to date.
Vet hospitals offer more specialised services
There are more specialised services in a hospital than in a vet clinic for all kinds of examination, diagnosis, prophylaxis, medical treatment and surgery.
The difference in the title has no bearing on the quality of care, but vet hospitals offer a broader range of care services. Also, the vet hospitals have more vet techs on shift at a given time.
All vets and nurses must undertake further studies and training in order to keep their knowledge and skills up to date.
Vet clinics
A vet clinic provides your pet with wellness exams centred on preventative care and annual check-ups. For more complex cases they needed to refer your pet to a better equipped veterinary hospital. Also, a vet clinic might not have a big stock of medications and medicines as a vet hospital.
