Please take a look at the more detailed descriptions of medical services we offer, or call us to discuss your pet’s needs.
Radiographs or X-Rays are one of the most useful diagnostic tools.
At My Own Vet, we use them to examine your pet’s bones, oral cavity, abdomen or lungs.
We use a new state of the art digital X-Ray machine that makes it possible to see the images on a computer monitor. We can use software to manipulate the images and get a more accurate diagnostic, while taking less time to process and reduce the time that your pet spends on the X-Ray table. The images are easily transferable through email, if a second opinion is needed.
Endoscopy is a procedure that is usually used to assess the surface of internal organs through a small tube inserted into their body.
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure. It does not require surgical incision and the anaesthetic time is shorter.
It is helpful to investigate the causes of vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, swelling, weight loss, respiratory problems or to collect biopsy samples. It can even be used to remove small objects.
We commonly use endoscopy to get an accurate diagnosis when other tests are inconclusive or do not give us a complete picture of the problem.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive and painless procedure, used to assess your pet’s internal organs. It uses sound waves to produce a moving, real-time image of your pet’s internal organs.
At MyOwnVet clinic, we use ultrasound to evaluate the position of internal organs, size, shape, tissue density and structure. It can be used to diagnose pregnancy or for heart checks and is also able to help identify tumours during surgical biopsy.
Usually an ultrasound takes less than an hour to perform and may require sedation. It allow us to give a diagnostic and discuss treatment options at the time of the appointment, thus reducing your wait, stress and worry.
Our in clinic diagnostic machines are a class of the art and the latest IDEXX laboratories have release (IDEXX “LaserCyte Dx” and also IDEXX “Catalyst One” Machines). We will also soon have a blood gases machine.
These machines can perform a range of tests from simple Pre-Anaesthetic blood tests up to those tests that enable us to diagnose almost all underlying conditions your pet may have! All this at a VERY competitive and reasonable prices.
